Your privacy matters. Here's exactly what we do with information you give us, in plain English.
What we collect
When you fill out an order form or a contact form on our site, we collect what you typed. Usually that's your name, firm or company, email, phone number, and the details about the order or the question you sent us.
For orders, we also collect information about the party to be served and the case the documents relate to. We treat all of it as confidential client work product.
When you visit the site, we also collect some basic technical information like which browser you're using and which pages you looked at. That helps us make the site better. There's more on this in our Cookies Policy.
What we do with it
We use what you give us to acknowledge orders, do the work, return affidavits and photo logs, send invoices, and reply to questions. Standard process-serving business operations.
We use the technical information to improve how the site works. We do not use it to build advertising profiles or sell anything to anyone.
We don't sell your information. We never have. We never will. Process serving runs on trust; selling client lists is not a business we're in.
Who sees it
A few trusted services help us run the office. The company that hosts our website, the payment processor that handles invoices, and the email service we use for client communication. Each of them only sees what they need to see to do their job.
We work with notaries to notarize affidavits and with courts to file returns. Those documents include the names and addresses involved in the case because that's what the rule and the docket require. We do not disclose case information beyond what the work and the rule call for.
If a court orders us to share information, we have to follow the law. We do not share anything otherwise.
How we keep it safe
We use reasonable security to protect your information. Case documents and affidavits are stored in restricted access systems. Office staff are background-checked. No system on the internet is one hundred percent safe, so we won't pretend ours is. We do our best.
Your rights
You can ask us:
- What information we have about you
- To correct it
- To delete it (where we're not required by law to keep it)
Some records, like notarized affidavits and case files, have to be kept for the retention period required by Ohio law. We'll tell you what we can delete and what we have to keep.
Send a note to info@spslegalservices.com and we'll take care of it within a reasonable time.
Kids
Our site is for legal and business professionals. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you're a parent and think your child sent us something, let us know and we'll delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll post the new version with the date. Big changes get a heads up at the top of the page.
