We want everyone to be able to use our site and to place orders without barriers. That includes people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, voice commands, magnifiers, and other assistive technology.
What we are doing
We design and build with accessibility in mind. That means:
- Text that is easy to read at different sizes
- Color contrast that works for people with low vision
- Keyboard navigation that does not require a mouse
- Visible focus indicators on every interactive element
- Alt text on meaningful images so screen readers can describe them
- Decorative images marked so screen readers correctly skip them
- Form labels that work with assistive technology
- Semantic HTML (proper headings, lists, buttons, and links)
- Respect for
prefers-reduced-motionon animated sections
The standard we follow
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at the AA level. That is the standard most accessibility experts and US federal contracting rules point to.
We test our pages with keyboard navigation, screen readers (NVDA on Windows, VoiceOver on macOS and iOS), and the standard browser accessibility audits before each release. We also test color contrast against WCAG AA thresholds.
Where we fall short
We are a small team and we are not perfect. There are probably places on the site where we missed something. Common areas we keep an eye on:
- The interactive Ohio county map relies on visual color cues; the same information is also presented as a text list on the coverage page
- Stylized SVG illustrations are decorative and marked accordingly; they are not the source of information on any page
- External tools we use (analytics scripts, etc.) may not meet WCAG AA in every release
If you run into a barrier we have not noticed, we want to know.
Tell us if something does not work
If a page, form, or feature is not working for you, send a note to info@spslegalservices.com. Tell us:
- What page you were on
- What you were trying to do
- What got in your way
- What assistive technology you were using, if any
We will get back to you within a reasonable amount of time and work on a fix.
Third-party content
Sometimes we use tools or content from other companies on our site (mapping data, analytics, payment processing). We do our best to choose ones that are accessible, but we cannot always control how they behave.
